On the top of Mount della Croce (1611 m a.s.l.) wide views open up over the entire territory of Civita di Cascia. The village occupies the plateau extending east of Mount Torrato, an area frequented since prehistoric times and throughout the pre-Roman period (in the nearby Fuino Valley a large votive deposit was found, with finds dating between the 7th and the 1st centuries BC). After the Roman occupation of the area, Civita became a very strategic fortified settlement to ensure control over the viability of the pass and the border with the Kingdom of Naples. From the 16th century it was then transformed into a settlement without walls. Looking further, again in the direction of Civita, there is Cascia, with the massifs of Mount Porretta and Mount Maggio behind it. Turning your gaze to the southwest, however, you can see the narrow and winding valley of Terzone, which leads to the Chiavano plateau, another area near Cascia of great historical-naturalistic value, on the border between Umbria and Lazio.
